The Population Reference Bureau (PRB) is pleased to announce the launch of the new www.popresearchcenters.org website! The site, maintained by PRB’s Center for Public Information on Population Research (CPIPR), explains and publicizes the findings of research from the 20+ Population Dynamics Research Centers. Funding is provided by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
The main purpose of the site is to improve dissemination of the Centers’ population dynamics research results to a wide variety of nontechnical audiences including policymakers, practitioners, educators, journalists, and students, as well as to researchers at the Centers and other institutions. PRB’s Research Highlights summarize key findings from peer-reviewed articles and presentations by staff at the Centers.
The website provides a centralized source of information about new research at the Centers. The home page includes links to find more information about each Center, as well as a custom Google search engine that enables searches across all the Center websites.
Each month, PRB will compile information about newly published articles and new grants at each of the Centers. Those who are interested in receiving these monthly updates can sign up for our Research News monthly newsletter. Enter your email address in the box at the bottom of the home page to subscribe.
The site is also designed to meet the needs of population scientists who are interested in disseminating their results to a broader audience, including journalists and policymakers. The Tools and Training page provides information about best practices for effectively communicating research results to both policy and media audiences.
